American Literature and Culture: The Symbolism of Colors in American Literature

The seminar will investigate the archetypal symbolism of colors in regard to psychological, sociological, and cultural implications and interpret pieces of American literature along those symbolical meanings. Examples of literature are "The Yellow Wallpaper," _The Color Purple_, _The Scarlet Letter_, "The Black Cat," or "The Man with the Blue Guitar," and others.
