In this course the students will develop, shoot and edit a short film. This hands-on-approach to film, guided by an experienced filmmaker, includes a didactic dimension. Students will explore a number of strategies to apply their newly gained expertise in the high school classroom. Students in the teacher training programme are encouraged to start their own film project in their internship in the winter semester after this course.

Since this AG is part of a research project by Dr. Erwin Feyersinger -- FinC (A Critical Evaluation of Film Projects as a Didactic Tool in the Classroom), it is necessary that the students document their experiences in this course but also later on during their in-class work and in the advanced training extension course we will offer in the 2015 summer term. It is not expected that all students will complete the entire programme, but the department sincerely hopes that at least some will take this very special chance and be a part of this research project.

Although this class is particularly geared for students who aspire to become high school teachers, it is also open to those in the BA and MA programme. Taking part in the process of filmmaking and the chance to work hands-on will be insightful for all students interested in film studies.
