To achieve a good B2+/C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Writing: Development and improvement of writing skills (sentence - paragraph - text). Introduction to writing for academic purposes. Writing assignments include creative and academic, informative and interpretive texts. Emphasis on text analysis, identifying and eliminating common errors, and self correction. Speaking: Opportunities to practice and improve oral communication in a variety of relevant situations.

In-class instruction will be supplemented by intensive self study and regular homework assignments.

Ongoing self- and trainer evaluation. Graded writing assignments. Mid term (written) and final exam (both written and oral).

A Writer’s Workbook: A Writing Text with Readings – by Trudy Smoke (Cambridge University Press). Additional relevant texts and input in class and/or online.

613118, 613119, and 613120 constitute a 6-hour course and MUST be taken together.
