First insights into special problems of the translation of literary texts. Specifically, we will translate the graphic novel "Toubab" by Patrick Bonato (Innsbruck): We will translate the book from German to French. The translation shall be published; students will be officially mentioned as translators. The author will come and see is in class in order to present himself, his career and his personal story that he has told in his book. During our sessions, we will work in groups of two, in bigger teams, all together, to train creativity and feedback. The author will come back from time to time which will allow you personal interaction in order to ask questions and to get help for your translation. The topic? The culture clash experienced by a guy from Innsbruck who moves to Senegal. Get enrolled for this class, get engaged - we need a dynamic team. Translation of different literary genres / literary text types and of expository paratexts, critics and so on with reference to literature.

Translations done individually by the students will be compared, discussed and optimized in class. 

Evaluation of all assignments and interactions.
