By the end of the seminar participants will be acquainted with the latest findings in EFL/ESL motivation research and have critically reflected upon their relevance for English language teaching. Additionally they will have gained practical experience in how to do empirical research in this field.

The main focus of the seminar lies on various aspects having an impact on the motivation of English as a foreign language learners and thus English language teaching. After focusing on and discussing the status quo of research, short field studies will be prepared and carried out to gain practical insights into the topic facilitating a critical approach towards how theory and practice may be intertwined.
