·         To become familiar with the scales and descriptors for reading and writing in the CEFR

·         To gain basic knowledge and understanding of different models of reading and become aware of their implications for teaching reading

·         To become familiar with reading strategies and reading activities for the EFL classroom

·         To be able to choose suitable texts for reading in class

·         To increase awareness of the importance of extensive reading and provide a set of tools / techniques for implementing extensive reading in class

·         To learn about different text types and to be able to improve your learners’ knowledge of these genres;

·         To understand the different phases of the writing process

·         To become familiar with a variety of methods and tools to improve your learners’ writing skills

·         To become aware of your own attitudes towards grammar,

·         To be able to make informed choices on how to practise grammar in your own teaching;

·         To prepare a lesson plan and design activities

·         To try out new methods such as paired reading, reciprocal thinking, traffic light reading, webquests, etc.

This course offers an overview of the underlying concepts and practical skills that are needed for learners of English as a foreign language to acquire literacy in English. You will learn methods and strategies for planning and implementing reading and writing instruction for all relevant levels from A1 to B2+.

 

Specific topics will include how reading works, reading comprehension and reading fluency, reading strategies, extensive reading, the process of writing, product and process oriented ways of teaching writing. The course will also deal with the role of grammar in an action-oriented language class as well as incorporate different ways of teaching grammar.

 

You will get a chance to design your own materials and activities and try them out in short classroom simulations.

Positiv absolviertes Pflichtmodul 1 des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch.

 

Diese LV ist dem Pflichtmodul 2 („Kompetenzorientierter Fremdsprachenunterricht“) des Bachelorstudiums Lehramt Sekundarstufe (Allgemeinbildung) Unterrichtsfach Englisch zugeordnet.
