Examination of Classical Greek historiography with a special focus on Near Eastern elements.
Discussion of the genre historiography. Analysis and discussion of the reworking and function of Near Eastern elements in Greek historiogrpahical texts (5th and 4th cent. BCE) by means of selected examples. Discussion of possible channels of transmission. Examination and critical evaluation of the literary concept provided by the so-called Reception Studies.
Introduction, discussion of papers, presentation.
Course with continuous performance assessment; Short Presentation, handout, participation in the discussion.
Literature will be announced in the course.
