The Christianisation of Europe in the Early Middle Ages is a classic subject in reference books. In the light of modern approaches of questions concerning cultural contacts and conflicts some assumptions of older approaches seem dated though. Within the scope of the seminar it is debated to what extent the “clash of cultures” view is responsible for the developments from the 5th to the 11th century.

Joint reading and interpration of medieval sources and scientific literature.

Participation, presentation of one's own results, written paper
