Acquisition of skills for a critical handling of historical sources and descriptions in Austrian History and of an adequate competence in presenting this knowledge in written and oral form

With the material turn, historical objects as sources have increasingly become the focus of historical studies. The collection, preservation, research and presentation of these material sources takes place primarily in museums. Historical human-object relationships, collection decisions and questions of museum display are negotiated here. The course provides an insight into concrete museum work and discusses the historical source value and "museality" of selected objects.

Guided reading; reading of relevant literature and discussion of selected sources; lecture.

Compulsory attendance; active participation; written assignments; presentation; final project
