703371 VU Selected Chapters in Perception, Interaction and Robotics B: Mixed Reality
summer semester 2024 | Last update: 07.03.2024 | Place course on memo listBy the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Explain the core principles of Mixed Reality (MR) and its applications.
- Distinguish between various MR devices and their unique functionalities.
- Utilize Unity as a platform for developing interactive MR experiences.
- Implement fundamental interaction techniques for MR environments.
- Design and develop a basic MR application using Unity, incorporating the learned concepts.
- Evaluate and refine their MR application based on user feedback.
- Present MR Prototypes effectively
The lecture introduces students to creating immersive Mixed Reality (MR) experiences with Unity3D, covering ideation, prototyping, development, and presentation. Throughout the semester, the theoretical foundations of MR and the basics of programming for MR applications will be learned. The course will be accompanied by a highly practical group project to apply the learned concepts.
Literature will be discussed during the first class.
This course is designed for master's students in computer science. A basic understanding of C# or prior experience with Unity is beneficial.
Please be aware that due to the collaborative nature of group projects, students often invest additional time beyond the allocated period for the development of their prototypes.
A laptop is necessary for participating in tasks throughout the semester. Virtual reality hardware (Head-Mounted Display) will be provided.
