Students completing this module can deal methodologically correctly with an area of physics and present the results in both written and oral forms that are easy to understand. Other aims are the acquisition of presentation skills, media competence, self and time management, creativity and innovation skills.
The bachelor thesis is a review of specialized literature. We recommend contacting the supervisor well before the semester begins to check which projects are still available and to determine whether an early start is possible.
In consultation with the supervisor, a practical component—based on laboratory or computational work—can be undertaken, in which case one should additionally take the course PR Special Advanced Practical B: Optics (704804) for laboratory work, corresponding to three weeks of full-time work in the laboratory. It is generally recommended to start the laboratory work during a semester break.
Bachelor thesis: written thesis on a topic from experimental physics based on scientific literature to be handed in electronically (PDF), max. 25 pages. Seminar presentation using Powerpoint or similar, 20 minutes plus 5 min discussion.
