Graduates of this course should be able to address problems in galaxy formation and evolution in a creative, scientifically critical, and methodologically sound manner, and to familiarize themselves with new publications. The goal is to be able to speak clearly and comprehensibly about a current topic, thereby practicing and refining scientific reasoning and presentation skills.

Independent preparation of a presentation on a subject-specific topic related to galaxy formation and evolution. The course content will go beyond the material covered in previous coursework and introduce students to new scientific findings. Results from students’ own scientific work may also be presented and discussed.

Student contributions: presentation, discussion, evaluation, regular attendance.
