Remote sensing techniques play an important role for geography, supporting both research and operational applications in a wide range of topics. Open source software contains the flexible tools for handling geodata (incl. remote sensing data) which are needed to build and adapt workflows for geographic research. Open source code offers the possibility to understand implemented algorithms and modify them for your own needs. This course deals with advanced data processing techniques and analysis using free GIS software such as QGIS and SAGA GIS as well as open geodata.
