In the autonomous preparing of a case study and the required connection to theoretical basics, students gain a deeper knowledge of diagnostic criterions, etiology and treatment-opportunities of patients with a somatoform disorder.

In this course the focus will lay on pain disorders and somatization disorders. Diagnostic criterions and etiologic models will be discussed, furthermore cultural characteristics and psychotherapeutic aspects will be presented. Students will have the possibility to use subjective descriptions by affected patients as a basic for working out central aspects of somatoform disorders in plenum and small groups.
