720459 VO Special topics of applied psychological: Psychology in a (climate) crisis
summer semester 2025 | Last update: 31.03.2025 | Place course on memo listWhat could a psychology look like that benefits people and does not harm the earth? In this course, we will explore various topics in the field of environmental protection and sustainability from the perspective of psychology (exponential growth, carbon ignorance, intention-behavior gap, tragedy of the commons, climate denial, norms and values, climate communication, techniques of discrediting, greenwashing, ecological footprint, alternative economic models, climate justice, climate knowledge, measurement problems, activism).
Students are given an overview of the means by which scientific psychology is committed to a life in dignity and a habitable planet. They reflect on the possibilities and limits of individual action and systemic change in a pluralistic society, and on the contribution that academic psychology has made, so far, to preserving the basis of our existence.
