Students acquire advanced knowledge and competencies in organic chemistry with special attention to the actual uses of modern synthesis, of bio‐organic chemistry and of other attemptsof organic chemistry to throw light on molecular and biological issues. Independentwork in current research areas of organic chemistry, perfecting presentation techniques, autonomous experimental work together with complex, practice‐oriented issues and withquestions of basic research.

Modern Synthetic Concepts (e.g. atom-economical Synthesis, Biomimetic Synthesis), Synthesis and Properties of N/O-Heterocycles, Synthetic Strategies (e.g. linear vs. convergent, Chiral Pool - Natural Products) & Stereoselective Synthesis, Synthetic Methods (thermo-, photo-, electro-Synthesis, Synthesis using Organometal-Complexes and Radicals, Protecting Groups, Total Synthesis of Natural Products and Preparation of Pharmaceuticals
