The students gain basic understanding and knowledge of the structure, synthesis, stability and molecular interactions of drugs
Analytics
- Introduction to analytical techniques commonly used in pharmaceutical sciences;
- theoretical background of TLC, HPLC, SFC, GC, CE and MS
- instrumental setup, applicability and typical applications, pros and cons.
Chemistry:
- Correlation molecular structure and physicochemical properties: acid + base, pKa of drugs, solubility, polar/apolar
- non-covalent interactions/ drug-target interactions
- stereochemistry
- stability: hydrolysis, oxidation, shelf-life
- examples for synthesis
Lecture with interactive elements involving student participation, audience response systems, online handouts
written exam
Students must select 2 lectures offered (VO2 each)
