The students learn how to formulate an interdisciplinary research question in the research field of landscape ecology, to apply appropriate methods (especially to quantify landscape patterns and –processes) for testing the question, and to analyze and evaluate results. Moreover, they are able to explain the results of the study to their colleagues and discuss them critically. Students further demonstrate skills to evaluate current literature in landscape ecology and are able to perform an in-depth literature analysis to a specific research subject.

Meaningful implementation of learned methods in the lecture-practical course part is trained and presented in a small project (also interdisciplinary). Evaluation of current literature is necessary to set the research question in a state-of-the-art context of the research field. Results are presented and discussed to the other project groups in a final workshop.
