Advanced theoretical insight into the field of (nonlinear) dynamics and structure formation in classical many-body physical systems, in particular in fluids, gases and plasmas; ability to independently gain advanced knowledge in the field.

Introduction to nonlinear dynamics in coupled classical systems (bifurcations, period doupling, chaos), Hamiltonian chaos (e.g. of magnetic field lines), theoretical and numerical models for fluid dynamics of many-body systems (liquids, gases, plasmas), structure formation in fluids and plasmas (waves, flows, vortices, instabilities, turbulence, transport), characterization of turbulence.

Lecture presentation and practical (theoretical and numerical) exercises.

Combined oral and immanent assessment
