winter semester 2026/2027 | Last update: 02.07.2026 | Place course on memo listStudents
- can select useful modern software development techniques for solving problems in scientific computing.
- can use modern techniques of versioning, automated testing, and deployment in reproducible environments within the framework of best practices in data management and software development.
- are able to demonstrate the use of these techniques in distributed development work across different team sizes.
- are able to independently learn how to use additional tools, frameworks, and concepts of modern software development.
Many well-established software development techniques can significantly improve the quality and efficiency of scientific work, particularly in the broad field of scientific computing. This course offers a practical and accessible introduction to the most promising methods, illustrated with real-world examples.
Presentation of methods, guided use of individual techniques based on practical examples, provision, review, and debriefing of practice examples.
Course with inherent examination character; performance in working on practical examples during class and homework time is evaluated on an ongoing basis.
Will be announced in the course.
This course is part of the doctoral college “Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling (DC CIM).” It is primarily intended for members of this doctoral college. See the priority order for enrollment requests:
1. Members of DC CIM & DAM (Applied Mathematics)
2. Members of DC MCE (Mountain Climate and Environment)
