Sommersemester 2023 | Stand: 08.02.2023 | LV auf Merkliste setzen>>Be rural, be cool<<
New infrastructural elements and public facilitites in rural environments.
This studio will explore the possibility of using Artificial intelligent as a design tool exploring new formal conditions and new formal understanding of architecture in Bolonia, Cádiz,(Spain) as our speculative laboratory. Our morphological approach will arise from the topological study of the place.
"AI" is becoming a prominent premise on the current architectural debate. Our aim is to use Artificial intelligent power to liberate creativity and being part of the architectural design process. These facts not only related to the transformation of existing urban tissues, but also the creation of new buildings/infrastructures typologies that will reflect new cities necessities.
The design task will be a new kind of infrastructural element or public facility that renegotiate local conditions. Bolonia is a fishing village, it's an archaeological site, it's beach, it's dune, it's "flysch", it's cows, it's tourists,... This amalgamation of things unveil a very convoluted place. Complexity emerges from social, phenomenological, programmatic and, especially, formal aspects.
Student will be immersed into digital design techniques and formal architectural discourse with the aim of articulate a compelling project with a relevant disciplinary result.
Questions such a classical form-function dichotomy, typology vs topology, tectonics and semantics through context-material will be reviewed.
This course will be an Advanced Architectural Design studio which examines the connection between conceptual understanding of design and form generation through digital design techniques. Essential knowledge will be acquired by software modeling and critical current discourse on the discipline. Students will be instructed in theory and simultaneously they will be equipped with digital techniques of design and representation.
Our premise is that Architecture is a formal discipline and based on that statement the course will be divide in three blocks. Each of them will last four weeks and it will contain theory and a design tasks. These three design tasks will reflect over three main levels of understanding: conceptual, procedural and practical; each of them connected to a canonical concept of our discipline.
