847292 PJ Design Studio: Climate Resilience
Sommersemester 2026 | Stand: 13.11.2025 | LV auf Merkliste setzenStudents are able to handle simple design and planning tasks. They are able to analyze a design task, to formulate an architectural program, to create a spatial concept and to translate it into an architectural design of a high aesthetic level. You are able to develop, present and present a project.
Resilient Urban In[ter]ventions: Alpine Superblocks
Architecture is a key component of the urban ecosystem, requiring climate-smart interventions to address pressing environmental challenges. This studio explores Alpine Superblocks, a planning strategy that rethinks urban areas through limiting vehicular traffic, expanding pedestrian zones, and integrating green infrastructure to enhance resilience. By prioritizing public space, sustainable mobility, and natural cooling, Alpine Superblocks mitigate heat islands and improve urban livability. In collaboration with the city planning department, students design climate-fit solutions that strengthen the urban climate for people, fauna, and flora.
Students engage in AI-driven generative design, computational modeling, and digital drawing techniques to explore innovative spatial configurations and environmental performance. These methods enable adaptive, site-specific interventions that respond to climatic, ecological, and socio-spatial conditions through a systems-thinking approach, ensuring that design decisions contribute to the larger urban ecosystem.
The project outcome focuses on how architecture actively engages the urban environment, shaping adaptive, site-specific interventions that enhance spatial quality and ecological responsibility. Through site analysis, mapping, and modeling, students engage the human-built interface, proposing tangible in[ter]ventions at the architectural scale to activate public spaces and foster resilience.
