summer semester 2025 | Last update: 05.03.2025 | Place course on memo listStudents will have a profound knowledge of central strands in feminist political science and will be able to analyze the significance of the category of gender in interdependence with race, class, heteronormativity and dis_ability for politics and the state. Students will also have knowledge of basic (queer) feminist political theories on the topics of public/private sphere, social contract, citizenship, welfare state, representation, justice, democracy and body politics. They will be able to differentiate and independently assess gender politics at the national, European and international level.
The lecture introduces central concepts, terms, theories and questions of feminist political science. The lecture introduces core concepts of (queer) feminist political science, including androcentrism, masculinism, representation, biopolitics, violence and anti-gender mobilizations. Students will be introduced to feminist, queer, postcolonial and intersectional approaches as well as current academic and social debates in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the fact that politics, the state and gender are constitutively interwoven.
