Giving an overview of and understanding contemporary British culture.

This course takes a hands-on look at the many "cultures" that co-exist in contemporary, multicultural Britain and how these cultures and sub-cultures have developed and express themselves, e.g class culture, youth/street cred. culture, media culture, music culture, speech culture, leisure culture etc.

After a general introduction, student class presentations focus on cultural themes using up-to-date (Internet, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc. sources.

The final grade is based on a class presentation (prepared in tutorials), a final paper and course participation.
