This course introduces students to various technical aspects of film, such as camera and editing, as well as to aspects of style, film history and theory. Additionally, there will be a practical part which will allow students – with the help of an experienced tutor – to script, produce and direct their own (short) films.
Covering a wide variety of basic elements of filmmaking and theorizing about film, this course serves as a preparation for future proseminars and seminars dealing with the subject.
Lecture, texts and film clips, individual and group discussion, final test, group production of short clips.
Active participation, written final exam, short written assignment
