Giving an overview of and understanding contemporary British culture.
This course takes a hands-on look at the many "cultures" that co-exist in contemporary, multicultural Britain and how these cultures and sub-cultures all contribute to present-day Britain - pop culture, "yoof" culture and its jargon, humour, media, class, regional idiosycracies, inner cities, behaviour and manners etc.
After a general introduction, student class presentations focus on cultural themes using Internet, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc. sources.
The final grade is based on a class presentation (prepared in tutorials), a final paper and course participation.
