The course serves as an introduction to American cultural studies with a focus on American media. We will explore approaches to American culture and survey basic theoretical cultural and media-related concepts. There is a strong practical component to the course where students are expected to critically examine cultural concepts and to analyze examples from print, film, television, and the new media.
