The lecture is principally open for all those interested, crucial prerequisite for participation in the proseminar are interest in the topic and openness for an interdisciplinary approach. The whole module is generally open to students also from other programmes than economics. For reasons of fairness and because of its interdisciplinary character, formal pre-requisites ("Theory of Economic Decisions 1" and "Fundamentals of Macroeconomic Activity") are thus only relevant in case of over-booking.

Acquirement of special knowledge in economic and social history, focus on the description and discussion of global developments (trends and structures), particularly but not exclusively post-World-War II, and stimulation of critical reflection of these developments

Critical discussion of various topics in connection to catastrophes (e.g. hunger, disease, "natural" catastrophes, ...)
