to encourage an interest in reading in general while distinguishing skimming and scanning techniques and differentiatng between fact and point of view to introduce basic conventions of good formal writing techniques highlighting language, structure and content
a variety of reading texts on everyday topics (eg. CEFR topics) practice in writing a variety of paragraph types (descriptive, narrative, classicifation, comparison, definition, etc.) and a basic introduction to summary writing
an intensive study of texts for structural elements (eg. coherence and cohesion) in-class analysis of student paragraphs, simple summaries, perfecting language skills, strucutre and content
reading and written test + regular written assignments
