The aim of the lecture is to provide a survey of the development of the American short story from the beginnings to the late 20th century by means of analyzing individual short stories.
The lecture will offer a survey of the development of the American short story from the beginnings to the present. It will focus both on various American theories of short story writing and on individual short stories and short story writers. The reading of approx. 15 short stories will be required.
