Students are introduced to the principles of psychological disgnostics and are able to give a professional opinion on the value and the limitations of diagnosis and diagnostic methods in clinical practice. They possess fundamental knowledge regarding the methods of psychological diagnostics and become acquainted with different forms of psychological testing and psychological assessment.
The lecture introduces the principles of psychological diagnostics: Purpose and appropriate use of psychological assessment, methods of psychological diagnostics and assessment tools, basic principles regarding the theory of mental tests, statistic basics, quality criteria, diagnostic judgement, the issue of classification and classification systems in clinical practice. The focus of the lecture is on psychological diagnostics in clinical psychology and psychotherapy.
