This course will cover the theoretical and practical basics of translation.

The following topics will be dealt with through specific translation assignments: text analysis, translation strategies and techniques, language transfer strategies, reearch tools, error analysis.

Interactive classes; analysis of source texts, critical discussion of various translations working in groups or in class.

2 tests: MOT (middle of term) and EOT (end of term); continuous evaluation

Reference lists, class handouts and translation assignments will be distributed either in digital format or in hard copy.

In order to participate in the course students must have successfully completed both the German for native speakers: text analysis and competence I (SL) course and the Language Italian II module.
