The aim is to provide extensive knowledge and deeper understanding of the topic

The Art Nouveau movement developed from cultural changes within Europe and the English Arts-and-Crafts movement. It brought with it the end of historicism that had been dominating art and architecture for almost a decade. New concepts emerged such as the Werkbund’s ideas of industrial culture and contemporary architectural style. However, modernism and the international style have only gained acceptance since the end of the First World War. The Bauhaus is the most prominent arts academy. This lecture is dedicated to demonstrating the architectural development from the late 19th century to the beginning of National Socialism in Germany and Austria
