Practice of scholarly working methods, the use of secondary literature and training of skills allowing to present and discuss the newly-acquired knowledge and related problems in oral or written form.

One specific feature of the Cold War is the fact, that it was “cold” in Europe, but rather “hot” in Asia. The course will deal with the policies of alliances and particular interests of the superpowers as well as the emergence and progress of numerous so called proxy wars.

Readings, oral presentations with handout, written paper, discussions, formal lecture, exercises.

Course with continuous performance assessment: attendance at all sessions, active participation in discussions, oral presentation, written paper (10 – 15 pages).

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
