Students will learn the practical handling of modern microscopy and electron diffraction methods for investigating nanomaterials.

Characterization of surfaces in the nanoscopic range with atomic resolution using scanning probe methods, investigation of nanoparticles and coating materials with transmission electron microscopy, diffraction of electrons using low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) in ultra-high vacuum and using high-energy electron microscopy (TEM-SAED) in transmission electron microscope; nanolithography
