Prerequisites: The learner can use the manual alphabet and has basic knowledge of non-verbal communication and can use gestures and visual cues in everyday situations. Goal: The learner can use an expanded basic vocabulary and can use the manual alphabet more fluently

Topics:
family, culture, work/profession; travel; current affairs

Linguistic Goals:
to increase basic vocabulary; to revise and practise items of the Austrian sign language and the different sentence patterns; to create simple dialogues about everyday situations

Narrative skills will be practised using the Austrian sign language. Learners will be encouraged and taught to use the sign language as a means of communication and interaction. These functions are at the focus of this course. Work in small groups, role plays; fluency exercises and text training are geared to widen the range of expression
