The learner can introduce themselves and others and answer questions about personal details, e.g. where they live and where they come from; can interact in a very basic way, if the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Goal:
Language Competence:
At this level the learner can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic sentences aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type; can introduce themselves and others and answer questions about personal details – e.g. where they live, where they come from; can interact in a simple way provided the other person speaks clearly and slowly and is prepared to help.
Culture:
aspects of Icelandic history, literature, culture, politics and economy so that he learner can find their way in Iceland and Icelandic society.

daily routine and leisure activities; hobbies and interests; orientation; birthdays/holidays
Linguistic Goals:
to describe what you are doing at the moment of speaking; to describe plans for the near future; to ask people about their interests and hobbies; to talk about what you like doing; to ask for the way; to indicate time in various ways; to say which month your birthday is and which year you were born in
Structural Goals:
present tense indicative conjugation of the verbs „vakna”, “bursta”, “fara”, “ætla” etc. – to describe your daily routine; the expression „Ég er að”... – to say what you are doing at the moment of speaking; the phrase “Ég ætla að” etc. – to say what you are planning to do; the phrase „að hafa áhuga á” etc. – to talk about your interests; directions - to indicate the way and understand indications; verbs of movement in the present tense and the imperative - to make/understand requests; interrogative pronouns “hvar” – to ask for the way; numbers over 1,000 - to tell your year of birth; the phrase: „Ég á afmæli í” etc. – to say when your birthday is; the personal pronouns „við”, “þið”, “þær”, “þau”, “þeir” – to talk about a group of people
