At this level the learner can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance – e.g. personal and family information, shopping, work, immediate environment; can communicate in routine situations of information exchange on familiar and routine matters; can describe in simple terms aspects of their background, education, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Linguistic Goals:
to talk and understand conversations about the weather; to talk about traditions; to understand idioms and proverbs; to plan a party; to express your opinion

Structural Goals:
conjugation of split/inseparable verbs in all tenses; comparison of adverbs/adjectives of place - to describe distance more precisely; past participle as adjective - to describe situations in some detail; prepositional compounds - as a synonym of the genitive construction
