At this level the learner can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic sentences aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type; can introduce themselves and others and answer questions about personal details; can interact in a simple way provided the interlocutor speaks clearly and slowly and is prepared to help.
Topics:
possession; family relations; making phone calls; invitations; chosing presents; flat hunting; letters; job applications; the points of the compass; a visit to the doctor; enrolment; CV; transportation in the city and a sightseeing tour; cars; visiting a Turkish family; hobbies; complaints; the weather and natural phonomena
Linguistic Goals:
to talk about possession and family relationships; to formulate simple questions and understand answers; to write letters and job applications; to indicate the location of a place in relation to another one; to describe pain; to name body parts; to write a CV; to use public and private transportation; to talk about hobbies; to file complaints; to understand the weather report and to talk about the weather
Structural Goals:
possessive suffixes and genitive - to indicate possession and belonging; the past simple tense - to talk about events in the past; adverbs of place - to indicate the location of an action; the future tense - to express actions, which will happen in the future; the aorist (the R-present) - to formulate polite questions and requests; conditional clauses – to talk about events which are either possible or permitted; Nezessitativ – to say that actions are necessary
