At this level the learner can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance – e.g. personal and family information, shopping, work, immediate environment; he/she can communicate in routine situations of information exchange on familiar and routine matters; he/she can describe in simple terms aspects of their background, education, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Topics:
Understanding medium-level, original fictional texts, radio broadcasts and press articles; producing oral and written texts; discussing and arguing in Turkish.

Linguistic Goals:
To increase active and receptive linguistic competence, especially vocabulary for stylistic variation; to deepen syntactic knowledge.

Structural Goals:
“dik”- form which corresponds to German subject, object and temporal clauses - in order to talk about facts and situations, which in German are represented by object, subject or temporal clauses; “miş”-form (the narrative form) – to talk about facts and situations one knows from hearsay; various verbal adverbs (-ince, -erek, -ip, -ken) – to refer to complex syntactical structures; unreal conditional – to describe facts and situations, which might happen/ might have happened under certain circumstances; reflexive and reciprocal verbs.
