Basic knowledge of the history of Christian Spirituality with her many forms of the imitation of Christ

The seminar demands a personal reflection on the validity criteria of the Christian faith for an authentic Christian Spirituality. Concepts of the Christian Tradition such as calling, vocation and mission by Jesus Christ will be studied as important elements of the personal process of the spiritual development of the single Christian. The rich history of Christian Spirituality will show how men and women following the spirit of the Lord developed various styles of religious life. Religious experiences inspired guidelines for spiritual growth we learn from the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola and his method of meditation and contemplation. Elements that compose Christian spirituality (e.g. God-images, community, prayer, ministry, asceticism) will be presented and discussed as lived forms of participation in the mystery of Christ.

Weekly small papers to prepare the seminary and a final paper at the end.
