- Students comprehend and can critically assess how researchers proceed in the operationalization of research questions.
- Students can interpret the results of statistical methods in relation to a concrete research question or hypothesis.
This course provides an overview over applications of quantitative studies in the social sciences. Using selected studies in the fields of social inequality, welfare states, urban sociology, religious sociology, among others, students become acquainted with the operationalization of hypotheses and with the interpretation of results from statistical methods in relation to theoretical questions.
Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).
Regular attendance at seminar, group work, presentations, and seminar paper
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
