Students understand the historical, political, social and cultural conditions of gender relations and gender organization and are able to present scientific knowledge of gender.

After clarifying some basic concepts of gender research we turn to the topic of education and gender: What impact does gender have on educational processes? How is gender constructed in the context of educational institutions and educational organizations? Formation processes are considered in life-time perspective: From infancy through early childhood education to school and college. A focus will be placed on the education or the educational failure of boys. The course is intended to encourage a critical examination of concepts and terms of gender research. Subject of the course are empirical studies as well as theoretical concepts.
