Discussion of the meanings of images for the constitution of the subject.
Aim of the course is the discussion of the meaning of images. Contents of the course are theories of the visual, especially referring to Foucault’s theory of power and subjectivation. Pictures and images are not only representations of reality, they constitute reality. How these processes take place is content of the theoretical discussion (content of course I). Content of course II are methods of the interpretation of images on the basis of examples.
