Awareness of the problem that published texts are the archievement of poetic work and decisions of publishing houses; knowledge of textual constitution and scholarly commentary; presentation of the work results in scholarly edition

Basic knowledge of scholarly editing in German philology in theory as well as practical examples. Exercises to the idea of literary sources, the critical assessment of sources in philology, textual constitution, forms of scholarly commentary, and to concepts of scholarly editions. Discussion of the problems of manuscript research, of biographical investigation, and of copyright.

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).

Requirements: MA Germanistik: successful completion of the "Wahlmodul 2 Deutsche Philologie." Diplom: 1. Studienabschnitt im Fach "Neuere deutsche Literaturwissenschaft". Provided there are still vacancies, participants of LA Germanistik and of other subjects of study are welcome (history preferred).
