Students are familiar with the specific problems of teaching German as a foreign or second language

Basics of teaching german as a foreign or second language (with specific regard to communicative, action- and learnerorientd language teaching); contemporary postions in curriculum design (Common European Framework of Reference CEFR, European Language Portfolio ELP); the main skills; acquisition of grammar an vocabulary.
Further aspects: conditions and regulations for german as a foreign or second language; dealing with textbooks and methods; looking at typologies for tasks and exercises; getting to know and applying basic methodic skills; the impact of results from research in langugage acquistion and linguistics.

Presentations and input, discusssion and analysis of teaching material and learners' products; students will read the required book themselves

written work (that shows that two clearly defined goals have been achieved); participating actively in class, two short written contributions that show the results of reading
