Knowledge about pragmatics and text linguistics; Gaining competence of categorizing and evaluating different pragmatic and text linguistic approaches in their historic context as well as skills in making pragmatic and text linguistic analysis
Basic concepts and theories concerning linguistic pragmatics, i.e. the analysis of language use in communication as well as text linguistics; In the context of text linguistics the course will deal with syntactic as well as semantic relations beyond the sentence boundary and the embedding of texts in their respective communicative setting.

Lecture, enlivened with audiovisual aids (PowerPoint presentation)

oral exam on the basis of personal notes and powerpoint-slides
