Discussion of terms such as master narrative/national history; context of formation and change of the discipline "Austrian History"; Orientation overview from the Early modern Period to the End of the Habsburg Monarchy along central guiding questions. Reformation and Counter-Reformation, development of the conglomerate of Habsburg countries to the modern territorial state, nationalism and national movements.

Written exam at the end of the winter semester (January 2015), and at the end of February 2015. Dates will be discussed at the beginning of the course.
