Psychological gender research is a broad field of research and practice in many areas that gets increasingly important. The course aims to provide an overview of the themes and core elements of psychological gender research.
This requires a critical examination of social categories. In addition to "gender" the categories of "ethnicity", "age", "social class" are discussed. Important concepts, theories and empirical findings in gender research are explained and illustrated with examples from everyday life, research and psychological practice. The reflection on processes and relationships that lead to the emergence of gender differences and gender hierarchies are key elements throughout the whole course.
Lecture with room for discussion. Small exercises, audio and film clips are intended to further and in-depth discussion of the topic.
