summer semester 2015 | Last update: 14.11.2014 | Place course on memo listThe students will acquire knowledge about the theoretical concepts and approaches of mediasocialisation research and learn about concepts and possible courses of action in active media work to achieve the ability to describe, analyze and assess the social and cultural conditions and changes in in every day life but also in the area of education that accure due to the increasing mediatization of our society. In this context the students will learn how to develop possible courses of action.
Media has become a self-evident part of every day life and “Lebenswelt” of people. In the course we will therefore focus on theoretical as well as practical aspects of media socialization research. On the basis of our own biographical media use and media routines and empirical studies we will discuss the processes of media socialization in course of life and different stages of age. Meanwhile we will look at ways of possession and dimensions of meaning as well as the effects of socialization concerning our media action. Taking up this issue, possible courses of action in active media work will be presented and discussed.
Introduction to the theme by the course leader, followed by discussion and presentation of central theoretical texts, work phase in small groups, presentation and discussion of empirical studies, course contribution (small groups/ project work)
Course contribution (presentation) and written elaboration. Development and presentation of a concept of active media work on the ground of theoretical reflections. Further information concerning the modalities of assessment will be given in the first lecture.
